MISSIONS ACCOMPLISHED
A Canadian-Moroccan medical team composed of 7 healthcare professionals go to off-sites humanitarian missions to examine more than 1000 patients per week. The goal is to educate poor women and children in disadvantaged rural areas, as well as to screen for STDs, cervical cancer and breast cancer.
These projects benefit from the moral and logistical support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Canada, the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Morocco and the local authorities.
Mission 1:
October 1 to 9, 2011
- In partnership with the Medical Association of Development Assistance between Auvergne and Morocco (AMDAM), a major-medical mission of solidarity for the poor in the province of Midelt and Errachidia.
- A Franco-Moroccan team of more than 110 health professionals, all volunteers, is participating in this generous momentum. They came from France, Spain, Canada and Morocco. Several medical skills stemming from the Moroccan emigration were part of the team.
- Dr. Boutaleb and Dr. Glia examined an average of 150 patients per day.
Mission 2:
October 7 to 14, 2012
- The OMCSEF is participating for the second time in a humanitarian mission in partnership with AMDAM in the province of Midelt and Errachidia.
- A Franco-Moroccan team of 170 practitioners, all volunteers, participates in this generosity in collaboration with Moroccan colleagues.
- Dr. Asmae Boutaleb and Dr. Meriem Glia examined an average of 140 patients per day.
Mission 3:
April 22-27, 2013
- A cervical and breast cancer screening campaign was carried out in conjunction with 2 other associations, one of which is Moroccan and the other French. This three-party mission took place in the villages of Merzouga and Boudnib in the Tafilalt region.
- Screening is carried out with more than 500 women. Follow-up and treatment of positive diagnosed women are provided by AMDAM and Sourire de Houda (2 French associations).
- The associations in charge of logistics has been working with the local clinics for years, thus facilitating the realization of this mission with regional partners involved in the field of health.

Mission 4 :
September 14 to 20, 2014
- A screening campaign for cervical and breast cancer was carried out in conjunction with the Sourire de Houda (French association). This two-party mission took place in Merzouga and Boudnib.
- Screening is done with 266 women. Follow-up and treatment with positive diagnosed patients are provided by AMDAM and Sourire de Houda (2 French associations).
- The local Boudnib association has been responsible for logistics with regional health partners.
- Dr. Boutaleb was the participant from OMCSEF.
Mission 5 :
May 17-21, 2015
- This mission follows annual screening for cervical and breast cancer in remote and destitute areas of Merzouga and Boudnib. This mission was carried out with the agreement of the Ministry of Health of Morocco.
- Two associations participated: OMCSEF and the Sourire de Houda.
- 340 patients were examined. As usual, positive diagnosed patients could be referred to the AMDAM team or the Lalla Selma Foundation, depending on the urgency of the case.

Mission 6 :
April 3 to 7, 2016
- This three-party Canadian-French-Moroccan mission took place in Boudnib and Merzouga. This year, we had the participation of a French radiologist, Dr. François Gaspard, who could perform systematic ultrasounds of the breast for patients over 50 years of age.
- Over 5 days, we consulted 410 patients for screening and 71 others for various pathologies. 361 smears were done. 159 ultrasounds were performed.

Mission 7 :
November 2016
- This humanitarian mission was subsidized by Royal Air Maroc which supported us by air transport. The objective of this mission was to strengthen our actions in favor of poor women and children in the regions of Errachidia.
- Accomplished projects during this mission:
- Partnership between OMCSEF and Sourire de Houda;
- Partnership between OMCSEF and the Guir Association of Boudnib;
- Medical follow-up of women who have had positive breast or cervical screening;
- Distribution of medical and dental equipment, school supplies and glasses for the poor.
Mission 8 :
April 2 to 7, 2017
- This mission was achieved in part thanks to the financial support of Royal Air Maroc for air transport. The goal is always the same: screening for cervical and breast cancer. In the villages of Boudnib, Rissani and Merzouga, we collaborated with Sourire de Houda and the Association Guir of Boudnib.
- The team is bigger this year: 11 participants, including 3 OMCSEF physicians, Dr. Asmae Boutaleb, Dr. Meriem Glia and Dr. Omar.
Mission 9 :
April 1 to 12, 2018
- The OMCSEF participated in a 6th breast and cervical cancer screening campaign at 3 different sites: Boudnib, Rissani and Tinghir, in partnership with Sourire de Houda.
- REPORT: 589 gynecological consultations, 470 smear tests, 100 pediatric consultations, 61 ultrasounds
- Association Guirr , Boudnib: as the year before, a lot of work of patient convocations and organization on site was realized.
- Association Le Grand Tinghir , in Tinghir: first screening mission in this city. Outstanding organization both upstream and on site.
- Centre de Santé de Rissani welcomed the mission participants to their premises.
- SIPATH Laboratory in Clermont Ferrand is still involved in the association which receives and analyzes all smears free of charge. Given the significant demand on the city of Tinghir where nearly 500 women could not be consulted, a new mission will be scheduled in October 2018.
- Participants: 16 participants, including 2 physicians from OMCSEF, Dr. Asmae Boutaleb and Dr. Meriem Glia.
